I agree with the last post. It will be very hot unless you are inside, and to get a better chance of being inside, purchase the priority boarding pass. However, if you are interested in the desert plants/mountains, the drive to both Saguaro along a portion of the Salt River and the road to Canyon Lake (and visiting Tortilla Flats historic stage coach town is a must see) is stunning! Canyon Lake also has a desert cruise ship - both are wonderful. Tortilla Flats has a restaurant, a couple shops, ice cream - just a very cool rustic, very little town nestled in the mountains. HISTORY!!! BTW, both drives can be done easily in 1 day. Go for it.
