Hi, On our next trip to NZ to meet up with family we were thinking of renting house in Auckland area. So many beaches.... Getting very confused with where to go. Want somewhere where there is something for the children to keep them occupied age 5 and 8 and shopping for adults as well as a few day trips. What are Mairangi bay and campbells Bay like? Hi. You will find that all the East Coast Bays on the North Shore are quite similar. Takapuna, Devonport and the small village of Brown's Bay all have shopping and supermarkets so food items are always readily available. Great swimming in the bays and very safe. The best months are February March as most of the schools here have reopened for the new year, not so many people as most have returned to work and also the prices are lower and the weather is quite settled. Enjoy your vacation, I know you will love it here.
