This experience is worth the hike down the steep trail. We found it best to do this at low tide as we heard the area can be dangerous at high tide. EricP228的完整评论

Please avoid this area. It’s so dangerous this time of year. My family and I went down there 2 days ago to check it out. We decided to go down there because we had some friends tell us it was amazing… S8315XZmikeb的完整评论

Beautiful spot however I do not recommend it to anyone. Some have focused on the trail, which is very high-risk, however the ocean is the real risk for most people. The short swim that is required ex… TravelerYYZ的完整评论
First Trip to Hawaii and picked Kauai :) Was wondering what if Turtle Cove is still okay to Visit in January? I know the path can be slippery but worth the hike! If the water is rough does this effect Turtle Cove? Thanks!

The surf and currents make getting into the cave dangerous. There is no beach, just a short stretch of black lava rocks that the large winter swells crash over. The turtles mate and lay eggs in the sand in the cave in May June July and 60 days later if no one digs them up, crushes them etc, the eggs hatch and the baby turtles return to the ocean. Since the huge influx of tourists coming down to the cave their chances are almost zero, and the turtles will soon be just a name to a place. Also, the condo association is going to police the parking lot and non residents of the apartments will probably be sad to return to find their car towed. It is a private parking lot.
Is this also called SeaLodge beach? We are staying in a rental at the other end of Albert Rd. My teenage son went ahead to scout it out and after a difficult time finding it (he could have been having a teenage moment) he said it was really dangerous to climb down. He had a hard time and thought I'd have difficulty, esp. carrying chairs etc.

Your son is correct - if he was on the path at the end of Edward Road it's a very difficult climb down - this is not an exaggeration at all. There is a second path in Ali'i Kai as mentioned above. This is to the left as you are standing facing the water at the end of Edward Rd. That path is easier - but still tough enough that you don't want a lot to carry in my opinion. Have fun!
Do reviewers realize there are two locations with similar names? - I just realized this is listing for Turtle Cove .... It is Turtle Cave that is at the end of Edward Road in Princeville.

Turtle cove is on Oahu. Oahu is a different island than Kaua’i.
Im a bit confused about how to access Turtle Cave. Is it the super sketchy steep trail at the end of Edward Road? When is the best time to go?

To get to Turtle Cave, you go down Edward rd. Turn into the resort to the left just before you get to the dead end. The buildings are curved. (The sketchy trail at the end of Edward road is super dangerous and doesn't really go anywhere. We actually saw a fire truck parked above it probably rescuing someone.) go between buildings 5 and 6. You will see a trailhead and some signs warning about the tide. It's semi hard, but not as hard as the one on Edward. There is some ropes to assist you when going up and down. This is a special spot to turtles and locals, no one will tell you where they are and may actually tell you that it is somewhere else or a swim. But I would rather warn everyone about the one at Edward road before another person gets stuck or hurt. (Two locals told us that was the trail!) just be respectful of the turtles, this is a safe place for them. Don't be dumb, wear shoes, don't bring tiny kids. Hopefully this is helpful, it is stunning.
