Established in 1899, Fremantle is a unique cemetery with some of the earliest gravestones of the State and a fascinating heritage trail that tells the story of our early history. The extensive use of limestone is a product of the port city's convict-built heritage and the cemetery showcases a modern, award winning mausoleum. Fremantle is one of the six cemeteries managed by the Metropolitan Cemeteries Board (MCB), a statutory authority of the Government of Western Australia. We provide sensitive and dignified facilities and services to meet the needs of the deceased and bereaved, including cremation, burial, entombment, memorialisation and chapel services, as well as planning for future cemetery needs of the metropolitan population.
