MANILA, Philippines — The total number of registered live births in 2023 slightly declined to approximately 1,448,000, according to the latest data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
The infant mortality rate is usually expressed as the ratio of infant deaths per one thousand live births. Prior to 1900, infant mortality rates of two and three hundred obtained throughout the world.
Data from PSA showed the five-year trend of the number of registered live births of adolescent mothers under 15 wherein it hit 2,411 in 2019, slowed to 2,113 in 2020, then rose to 2,320 in 2021.
