Could someone please tell me why some churches are getting rid of their lovely old pews? What are they doing with them when they are taken out? Some of them are made from lovely old oak.

The pews have a long history as well ... that this historic landmark is the best stop on the Freedom Trail. Old North Church sits on Salem Street near the Boston Inner Harbor.

Construction crews are set to remove more than 250 wooden pews from it this week, kicking off an ambitious multi-year plan to reinvent the cathedral as part church, part creative arts incubator.
