After being turned down by the House, a $5.4 million bonding request for a security fence at the Shakopee women’s prison was left out of the state Senate bonding package released Wednesday.

The ornately designed fence proposed for the Shakopee women’s prison was dealt a setback last week as members of a key House committee expressed skepticism over the $5.4 million price tag.

Already, two looming ornamental gated entranceways have been installed. Parts of the lower wrought iron fencing can be seen laying on the ground in-between the doorways ready for fashioning.
