The ongoing regional conflict has deepened Yemen’s already acute humanitarian and economic conditions, leading to further contractions in GDP and rising inflation.
The move will authorize harsher penalties on the Iran-backed group, which has attacked Israel and disrupted global shipping trade in the Red Sea for over a year.
Warring parties in Yemen, especially the Houthis, further repressed civil society and obstructed and endangered the provision of humanitarian aid in 2024.
"Such arbitrary and baseless unilateral actions will further weaken the rule of law in international relations and threaten regional peace and stability," Baghaei was quoted by state media as saying.
