Axial-flow pump - Wikipedia
An axial-flow pump, or AFP, is a common type of pump that essentially consists of a propeller (an axial impeller) in a pipe. The propeller can be driven directly by a sealed motor in the pipe or by electric motor or petrol/diesel engines mounted to the pipe from the outside or by a right-angle drive shaft that pierces the pipe.
What is an Axial Flow Pump? | How An Axial Flow Pump Works
An axial flow pump is a type of centrifugal pump in which the fluid enters and exits the pump in a parallel direction to the impeller. It has a suction parallel to the impeller. An axial flow pump doesn’t change the flow direction of the fluid.
In an axial flow pump, the impeller pushes the liquid in a direction parallel to the pump shaft and adds momentum to the fluid flow through the unit by transfer of energy between the fluid and the rotating propeller blades.
Axial Flow Pumps Information - GlobalSpec
Axial flow pumps, also called propeller pumps, are centrifugal pumps which move fluid axially through an impeller. They provide high flow rate and low head, but some models can be adjusted to run efficiently at different conditions by changing the impeller pitch.
Axial flow impellers do not generate much pressure, but they are very good at providing high flow (more than 40,000 m3/hour). Pumps with axial flow impellers are mainly used for recirculating liquids between tanks in wastewater treatment plants, and for flood control applications where large volumes of water need to be pumped at a low head.
This study relates to the impeller design of axial flow pump that can develop a head of 3 m and deliver 0.3 m 3 /s of water at the speed of 1000 rpm. In the design impeller, outlet diameter is 350 mm, entrance vane angle
Axial Flow Pump Review - Engineers Edge
Axial flow pumps are sometimes called propeller pumps because they operate essentially the same as the propeller of a boat. Applications include low head and high capacity pumping requirements for any fluid. The impeller of a typical axial flow pump and the flow through a radial flow pump are shown in the illustration below. Axial Flow Pumps.

2024年6月26日 · Axial flow pump impellers are vital components in many industries, playing a crucial role in fluid movement and management. These impellers are specifically designed for applications where large volumes of fluid need to be moved across relatively low pressure heads.
a study of the different axial flow pump impellers used for both pump and turbine operations. In this first of two articles, Punit Singh and Franz Nestmann of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology survey the available impeller shapes and present a theoretical model that reveals the behaviour of the impellers’ internal hydraulic variables. L
This article presents a hydraulic design procedure for axial-flow pump impellers, followed by their manufacturing documentations, all in one easy-to-use software named AXPHD V2.0 (AXial Pump Hydraulic Design) developed by one of the authors (Kalmár).
Axial Flow Pumps — Prime Pump Corporation
Consisting of a propeller-like impeller, an axial flow pump rotates within a cylindrical casing or pipe. As the impeller spins, it pushes fluid parallel to the pump's shaft, creating flow in an axial direction.
Axial Flow Pumps - an overview | ScienceDirect Topics
An axial flow pump is a type of centrifugal pump in which the fluid enters and exits the pumps in a parallel direction to the impeller (see Fig. 10). So an axial flow pump does not change the flow direction of the working fluid differently from a centrifugal pump.
Understanding the Difference Between Axial Flow Impellers VS …
2021年8月3日 · Axial flow impellers vs radial flow impellers: Radial flow impellers are designed to move fluid sideways during rotation whereas axial impellers move fluid in an up and down, cyclic pattern.
Design of axial flow pumps impeller Final calculations
When the final design of pump is considered, the shape of an impeller is the most important for optimum hydraulic efficiency at 80%. Impeller design should be in such a way that, losses must be as low as possible. The design of a pump's impeller can be divided into two parts.

2024年6月26日 · An axial pump impeller operates by applying force directly to the fluid in the pump along the axis of rotation. This design allows the fluid to move parallel to the impeller shaft, providing a continuous and steady flow, ideal for low-pressure, high-volume applications.
Axial Pump - Piping Designer
2016年1月2日 · An axial pump, also known as an axial-flow pump, is a type of pump that moves fluid by means of an impeller with blades that generate an axial (parallel to the shaft) flow pattern. Unlike radial-flow pumps, where fluid moves outward from the pump's center, in axial pumps, the fluid flows in the same direction as the pump shaft.
