In human anatomy of the mouth, the palatine process of maxilla (palatal process), is a thick, horizontal process of the maxilla. It forms the anterior three quarters of the hard palate, the horizontal plate of the palatine bone making up the rest.

The palatine process, thick and strong, is horizontal and projects medialward from the nasal surface of the maxilla. It forms a considerable part of the floor of the nose and the roof of the mouth and is much thicker in front than behind.

The palatine process is a horizontal projection from the maxillary bones that forms the anterior three-quarters of the hard palate, the bony structure at the roof of the mouth. It plays a crucial role in separating the oral and nasal cavities.

The maxillary process of palatine bone develops in the second year of life and displays different shapes. It can be long and slender or wide and round shaped. Its upper margin is more or less concave, corresponding to the margin of the hiatus over which it is bent. Its inferior margin can be smooth or irregular.
