Expert is a subtheme of Creator introduced in late 2012 with the introduction of 10233 Horizon Express. These sets feature large, detailed, buildings and vehicles aimed at, as the name suggests, experienced LEGO fans. In 2020, LEGO announced the Expert theme was ending in favor of sets marked 18+.

For those who haven’t heard, LEGO Creator Expert has been officially rebranded to LEGO Icons, at least digitally as physical changes won’t be implemented into sets until 2023. Those changes will include the LEGO Icons logo on boxes for corresponding sets.
