Brooklyn Bridge eventually led to January 1, 1898’s merger of Brooklyn into of City of Greater New York. Since the opening of the Brooklyn Bridge on May 24, 1883, this has become so much more than a mere commute between communities that have traveled on it by millions of New Yorkers, out of towners, and tourists alike.
