Nestled on the Cape May Peninsula, this underrated beach is famous for its spectacular sunsets. Beachcombers love sieving through the sand to seek out Cape May “diamonds”—tiny pieces of quartz crystals that wash up on the shore. You'll also see the World War I SS Atlantus ship that ran aground almost a hundred years ago.

Sunset Boulevard runs straight as an arrow from Cape May to Sunset Beach.

Located at the mouth of the Delaware Bay, Sunset Beach offers some of the best sea watching on the east coast. It is well worth scanning the water for half an hour at any season, and particularly after tropical storms, hurricanes, and northeast storms.
