2020年4月10日 · I recently found these strange features in a Devonian rock in Johnson County, Iowa. They are unusual looking enough that I suspect an animal may have been involved in their formation. My first guess was that they were burrows that had filled in with dense crinoid and shell debris, but I'm not sure how that would happen.

Conditions in all three areas were quite different. as the erosion of the Acadian Mountains in New England created a large delta that slowly advanced westward.

2018年6月22日 · Quarry near Novinka is a fairly large quarry, developed in the sands, introduced here in the Devonian (about 400 million years ago). The quarry is very picturesque and extremely interesting, there are mottled sands with a great variety of sedimentary textures deposited in various water conditions.

2023年8月3日 · This site exposes the Glenerie Limestone, which is Lower Devonian in age. It's part of the Tri-states group. This site is usually quite productive after a good rain, as it washes away debris, and allows you to find silicified fossils that have fallen from the matrix.
