2017年7月10日 · Here's a pic of the current situation. I started with a larger ez out, but I never could get enough bite into the glow plug shaft. The smaller ez out seems to work better, but the last socket on the back to work was a 4.5 mm. It now spins on the back of the ez out. I've since went to vice grips, but they slip before breaking the glow plug loose.

Glow plugs are a lot alike but they come in different diameters and lengths. I got a set that was for a different diameter than my glow plugs and had to order another.

2013年7月31日 · Hoping to pinch the glow plug tip harder. The Glow Plug released with less effort than when originally trying to remove it. Should have spent more effort on penetrating oil to begin with. Note penetrating oil made it over 3/4's of the way down the threads. 2019年5月15日 · I have dealt with this kind of situation on other engines but not on a Duramax yet. You can use a tool set like this and it works about 90% of the time. The last one I did the threads for the glow plug were pretty messed up by the time the plug came out so I had to helicoil the hole but so far it has been a real boon to have this tool set.

2013年4月23日 · Lly+ glow plug systems are totally different than lb7. Lly+ has a solid state controller and each glow plug has its own wire going to it, they are also each individually monitored. Lb7 is not that way. They have a bus bar that feeds 4 glow plugs per side so it won't throw a code for each individual plug like an lly+ truck will.

2017年7月13日 · Don't use an extractor that goes inside the glow plug. A few years ago a tech I worked with tried to do that on a truck that had two glow plugs broken off. Ended up putting a head on it because it tore up the head as the glow plug expanded and the extractor kept going deeper, it ended up spreading the hole for the glow plug and ruined the head
