Margaret Brainard Hamilton (December 9, 1902 – May 16, 1985) was an American actress, vaudevillian [1] and educator, whose fifty-year career in entertainment spanned theatre, film, radio and television. [2]

She directed the Software Engineering Division at the MIT Instrumentation Laboratory, where she led the development of the on-board flight software for NASA's Apollo Guidance Computer for the Apollo program.
