Saskatchewan Glacier is the largest outflow glacier from the Columbia Icefield, which rests along the Continental Divide. The glacier is a primary water source for the North Saskatchewan River.

Proceed cautiously on this 10.9-mile out-and-back trail near Improvement District No. 9, Alberta. Generally considered a highly challenging route, it should only be attempted by experienced adventurers. This is a popular trail for backpacking, hiking, and snowshoeing, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day.

Once you enter the valley, your eyes will be filled with gorgeous waterfalls, ice capped peaks, gushing water streams and a glance of the majestic glacier at a distance showing off as your targeted trophy.

2023年3月24日 · The Saskatchewan Glacier is the headwaters of the North Saskatchewan River, which flows through Alberta and supplies many communities, including Edmonton, with drinking water. It is one of six major glaciers that make up the Columbia Icefields, including Athabasca, Castleguard, Columbia, Dome and Stutfield.

Though much longer than the famous Parker's Ridge, this trail is easy and meanders through morraines and forest before reaching the toe of the glacier. Stunning waterfalls, erratics, and fossils are dotted along the way for your visual pleasure.

2024年3月4日 · The views of the Saskatchewan Glacier are unreal! Most people should be able to complete this hike in 2 to 4 hours. It took us 45 minutes up and about 30 minutes down, with a 30-minute stop along the ridge. Trail runners will be able to get up and down the ridge in an hour.
