On the Stormcloak side Ulfric is basically a power hungry hothead who is using the worship of Talos as a springboard to Skyrim's throne. On the Imperial side the central leadership is in disarray and was stalling for time to shore up their defenses against the Thalmor.

Personally I think the Stormcloaks are the better option for both enjoyment and rewards. At the end of the Stormcloak quest, you get an amazing ebony weapon from Ulfric that absorbs 25 points of health each hit. On of the best weapons for staying alive. From what I've seen it doesn't affect it much/at all. I've started 2 chars, one went with imperial and one with stormcloaks, the only changes I've seen so far is that when (whoever you're with) says we need to split up they both give you a quest, and it's to talk to a different person in Riverwood, if you go with imperial it's the blacksmith and he will give you some free items and limited ...

2011年12月14日 · The Skyrim Legion is composed primarily of local Nord recruits - individuals not much better (if at all) than any Stormcloak soldier, except with arguably better equipment. Likewise, some Legion veterans since joined the rebellion, leaving both sides with a number of experienced soldiers and novice recruits.

I also think the Stormcloak questline and helping with the birth of an independent nation is alot more "epic" than joining a huge Imperial Army to kick the little guy while he's down. I have no concerns over who has a better chance of beating the Thalmor, because when you're Dragonborn whichever side you join is GOING to win regardless.

Stormcloak (assuming you mean from the start). Everything east of Whiterun is Stormcloak (and Dawnstar as well). Whiterun and everything west are Imperial. That is, once you start the civil war questline. Until then Whiterun is neutral, but in the end it is imperial.

Captain Valmir changes uniforms from storm cloak to imperial, or imperial to storm cloak depending which side your on To expand upon this a bit, one does not actually need to do the quest for the gear. If you follow Hadvar out of Helgen, he will be wearing Imperial armour when you arrive at Forelhost, then Stormcloak once you do the quest.
