2011年10月26日 · A lot of med schools won't take Business Calculus, which may be what your Applied Calculus is. Not sure how your school works, but at mine the night class of Calc I was easier than the ones offered during the day (the professor didn't have to adhere to the department's guidelines or the insane departmental final).

2010年7月1日 · With regard to the math requirements, do schools require calculus I or would applied calculus suffice. I am in an predicament, I am international transfer student and I have taken Cal I and Cal II at my former non-US institution. However all prereqs have to be taken at US school. I plan to apply to Medical school next spring, for the next cycle.

2013年2月6日 · I know that most (all?) pharmacy schools require calculus, and two years ago, I took an Applied Calculus class. Does anyone know if pharmacy schools will accept that course for the calculus requirement, or do they only take calculus w/ analytical geometry? Thanks...

2010年10月16日 · however, Med schools in this state are already aware that there are differences between Calc and Analy Geometry and Survey of Calculus and those respective course numbers on your transcript. I would be very, very careful with trying to pass off Survey of Calc or any other Calc course as "Calc 1".

2009年8月22日 · Sure pre-calculus is said to be what lays the foundation for you to learn calculus but you can do just as well. The main important thing is learning small tricks that you may learn in algebra (again covered in pre-calc) that will help you. But calculus will be an introduction of new concepts that you have not seen before.

2010年8月20日 · Calculus (general, also called "Calculus with Analytical Geometry") is generally geared towards math/engineering/physical science students. Calculus (sciences, also called "Calculus for Biology and Medicine") is geared towards life science majors. As the names states, it implements areas of life sciences to make understanding concepts easier.

2009年3月19日 · Also, in the grand scheme of things (i.e. learning and practicing medicine), whether or not you took algebra- vs. calculus-based physics is all but irrelevant. Case in point, less than 10% of US med schools require calculus itself, never mind calculus-based physics.

2013年3月23日 · I only took calc-based physics long ago, but I was tutoring those in algebra-based physics, which is why I'm familiar with this. Honestly, like you said, it's really subjective. Calculus-based physics (when applied correctly) is more about concepts and the math is just a way to present the work.

2009年4月29日 · The program is set up so that we virtually have no classes the spring before applying to med school (2011). Therefore, I could fit Calculus 1 into my schedule then. Starting with Pre-Calculus this summer means that I will not be able to take Calculus 2. I know this makes me ineligible to apply to some of the top medical schools.
