The Caterpillar Sixty is a 60 horsepower (45 kW) crawler tractor manufactured by the Caterpillar Tractor Company from 1925 until 1931. The Sixty was the largest tractor in Caterpillar's product line at that time.

Developed by C.L. Best in 1919 as the Best 60 Tracklayer, this iconic machine was renamed the Caterpillar Model Sixty Track-Type Tractor after the 1925 merger. Its design is still a core element of Caterpillar’s dozers today, showing the longevity and endurance of Caterpillar’s innovations.

On June 24th, 1919, C.L. Best, who would go on to be Caterpillar’s first chairman of the board introduced the Best 60 Tracklayer. It was to become not only the best-known of Best’s track-type tractors but was also the largest tractor of its era.

Apparantly 100 conversion kits were offered by Caterpillar to convert gas 60s to diesel, the first using the 5 1/4 inch bore D7700 engine and later the 5 3/4 inch bore D8800 engine.
