Commissioner King serves as the Chairwoman of the City of Miami Commission, as well as the District 5 Commissioner representing Liberty City, Little Haiti, Model City, Overtown, Wynwood/Edgewater, and the Upper East Side. Born in Guyana, she moved to Miami at age five.

Willie Christine King Farris (September 11, 1927 – June 29, 2023) was an American teacher and civil rights activist. King was the sister of Martin Luther King Jr. She taught at Spelman College and was the author of several books and was a public speaker on various topics, including the King family, multicultural education , and teaching.

She is the President and CEO of the Martin Luther King Economic Development Corporation and a practicing attorney. Christine is married with three beautiful children. She is known for her passion for community service.

Christine "Chris" King is the world’s first female CEO of a semiconductor company, AMI Semiconductor. She spent 25+ years at IBM, eventually becoming the VP of Semiconductor Solutions.
