But also, and I haven't seen that mentioned yet, there's an interview where Tennant actually answered that question, and his answer was that he partly did it because that was the only way he COULD walk in those pants because they were so tight.

2023年9月1日 · Back in the day I loved David Tennant in Doctor Who, but I became a proper fan after his Hamlet (2008 onstage, 2009 filmed). Hamlet has always been my favorite of Shakespeare's "gloomy" plays, and to this day his portrayal is my favorite (even if there are aspects of other characters I prefer in other productions).

On David Tennant’s podcast Michael Sheen talks about not wanting to play Crowley and being nervous about having to tell Neil Gaiman (who agreed he should play Aziraphale in any case)…but I think it speaks to the fact that it’s a wildly difficult role to play.
