2013年9月27日 · The Middle Devonian fossils of Central New York are quite different from those in Western New York (Buffalo area) or eastern New York (Hudson Valley and the Helderbergs). Conditions in all three areas were quite different. as the erosion of the Acadian Mountains in New England created a large delta that slowly advanced westward.

2023年2月28日 · Here are some of those Middle Devonian finds I promised, the deposit is a deep water deposit and as a result most of the fossils found are the same species of bivalves with the occasional Goniatites and Nautiloids. Most of these bivalves are Nuculites sp.

2025年1月30日 · I have been fooled by modern arthropods being stuck to rock previously. Wetting and drying can help it to peel it off if it is modern. The quality of the images provided are not good enough but from what can be seen it does look convincing enough to be fossil, however it is worth noting that Devonian shrimp are quite rare.

2020年4月10日 · I recently found these strange features in a Devonian rock in Johnson County, Iowa. They are unusual looking enough that I suspect an animal may have been involved in their formation. My first guess was that they were burrows that had filled in with dense crinoid and shell debris, but I'm not sure how that would happen.

2023年8月3日 · This site exposes the Glenerie Limestone, which is Lower Devonian in age. It's part of the Tri-states group. This site is usually quite productive after a good rain, as it washes away debris, and allows you to find silicified fossils that have fallen from the matrix.

2020年10月19日 · As Jeff said, it was a wonderful day of collecting the lower Devonian formations available to us in the Quarry. The weather was sunny, and cool, with nary a cloud in the sky. Jeff always makes for a fun collecting partner, and even the 2 hour trip was scenic and pleasant. I was lucky, and found most of my target items for the day.
