2016年2月26日 · SVG is intended for the web, but nothing stops you from using it for print. Although I doubt it support all PDF/EPS features. SVG is intended as a final file too, but is can be used as working file. Inkscape can edit SVG files, although it doesn't has the features Adobe Illustrator has, but for a free Open Source app it's awesome.

2021年2月2日 · EPS might be necessary for some use cases (e.g. embroidery, signage, engraving, laser-cutters,...), if the tool the client might want to use cannot handle other formats. SVG editors (i.e. Inkscape) cannot provide (Illustrator) EPS, but there are work-arounds to provide other printer ready CMYK file formats (see answers @BillyKerr, @slebetman).

I am using Inkscape to create .svg vector files. I wanted to convert it to .eps so that I could use it in Latex (unable to use .svg in Latex). Web browsers can't render AI or EPS files well. At best they render full PDFs with a plug in, not natively. Print production can't always understand the XML behind SVG, so using SVG can cause problems in RIPS or output. In terms of backbone all the vector formats are viable to use/edit during construction. I am creating SVG files programmatically and I want to export them in DXF or EPS for a laser cutter and CNC router. Illustrator can export to DXF with settings "1 pixel = 1 unit." Inkscape has built-in export to EPS with this command. inkscape -f input.svg -E output.eps shows on software such as VCarvePro as three times smaller.

2012年1月21日 · Actually, for print EPS or PDF would be better. SVG is okay for web (which is what it was designed for) but often there are issues with RIPs when printing. Most designers who are supplied SVG files will open them in a vector app and re-save as either native files, eps or PDF. I would NEVER send an SVG file to a print provider.
