Combo Lathe/Mill - The Hobby-Machinist
2022年11月30日 · The combo units are a compromise. The lathe part can actually be quite versatile, but the mill part is inevitably hanging on a vertical with insufficient rigidity. Follow the advice from @DavidR8 - and save up for separates. If you are needing to "do work" on one or the other, often one can help the other.
Decisions-- mill lathe combo or separate units ... - The Hobby …
2019年3月11日 · There are quite a few threads here on searching for a lathe or mill or combo machine. In fact, this seems to pop up every week, and it always comes down to this: a combo machine works but it is limited as a lathe and even more limited as a mill, and most agree that you are far better off buying a decent lathe and a decent mill that is sized to ...
Making a combo lathe mill more useful | The Hobby-Machinist
2024年11月1日 · Obviously the setup when moving from milling to lathe and back is arduous, and adding a spindle to the lathe carriage would just be more setup, which is silly when I already have a mill on the lathe! I saw an interesting Weiss machine (the MPV290F) that has a sliding milling head which looks like it can be used to execute rotary operations on ...
Why should I NOT buy a 3-in-1 machine? - The Hobby-Machinist
2012年10月29日 · Regarding #1, this is the heart of my question. These combo machines, on paper, have a very impressive swing. If one did not care about milling and were to base their lathe purchase on size of swing for the money, it would be more cost effective (from Grizzly, Enco, AND Smithy) to buy their 3-in-1 machine than their lathe of same swing.
Lathe/ Milling Machine combo opinions. | The Hobby-Machinist
2021年2月14日 · Get a good lathe first, and keep looking for a small bench mill or better yet, a small knee mill. You may even find a small horizontal knee mill that has had a vertical mill head added which is what I have. Very satisfactory, for me.-Mark ps get a lathe with either backgears or a slower minimum speed than 160 rpm, if you plan to do much ...
grizzly G0516 lathe mill combo? | The Hobby-Machinist
2013年7月4日 · I'm really interested in getting some info on the lathe/milling combo machine from grizzly G0516. I have a small shop, mainly wood working but want to be able to do small parts. Saw a HF mini and wanted a little better quality and capacity plus having both machines. Will this fit …
Clint's Lathe + Mill Combo Touch DRO Install - The Hobby-Machinist
2022年6月2日 · The first problem was the discovery that the '10mm' groove in the back of the lathe bed was actually 9.85mm so the strip didn't fit. The cross slide slot which I did measure is 10mm+ but it looks like the mill column slot may be a little marginal too. So a bodgy shaper setup was devised to widen the lathe bed groove.
Help with Force International / Craftex B2229 Lathe Mill Combo.
2013年5月21日 · Hi Folks, I just picked up a used lathe mill combo unit. The name tag says Force International and the previous owner told me that it was purchased from Busy Bee. It appears to be basically the same as the current Craftex B2229 combo unit. It is visually the same, except mine is blue and white instead of green and yellow. Approximately 10 years ...
Bolton Lathe/Mill - The Hobby-Machinist
2023年7月18日 · Get two smaller machines. A small lathe and mini-mill will get you much farther than any combo contraption. You're in LA- machines are all over the place- keep looking. Most machines you look at will be worn- many worn out. An Atlas lathe is a good starting point if it has the roller bearing headstock and isn't too trashed. I have two, a 6" and ...
Craftex 2071 Lathe Mill Combo Questions | The Hobby-Machinist
2016年7月6日 · Hi All, I just purchased a used 2071 machine (owners manual calls it a HQ400/3AMulti purpose Machine), that doesn't appear to have had a lot of use and is cosmetically in good condition. Of course I had to take it apart before using it! Mostly to be able to transport it as the sucker is a lot...
