I’m an OG and learned to use a manual at age 14 in my dad’s old cracker box 1960 Jeep wagon, drove a 67 VW Beetle as a college kid, and several other manuals over the years. I found that JK manual transmission to be a little tricky although I did get used to it. The position of R was problematic.

2014年4月26日 · I have just purchased a 2014 Wrangler, 6 speed man. I have read most of the threads regarding this transmission, and I do not want to seem redundant. My jeep has 500 miles on it and I just wanted to verify with all you guys that my concern is just a normal Jeep feel. 2nd gear appears tough to get in, but no grinding.

2024年7月21日 · Just bought a 2006 TJ with the 6 speed manual transmission. Wanting to change the transmission oil and checked Amsoil and they recommend their 5-30 oil. Checked Redline and they say 75-80.

2022年6月6日 · With the JLs, one had the 8spd auto and the current one has the manual. The 8 spd auto is one of the best transmissions out there IMO. The JL manual is a much more refined unit compared to the JK manual, again in my opinion, and shifts much smoother. The stock 3.45 gearing is not the ideal choice, but it's what came on mine.

2015年7月21日 · Some sales persons should stick with sales and save the service advice. JK manual and auto transmissions should be serviced. How often is up to the owner, based upon use and what they prefer. I change the fluid on my manual trans. every 15,000 miles and I use synthetic synchromesh. That works for my use.

2014年6月5日 · Not at all. If you find a good deal on a TJ in good shape that you like, jump on it. There are work-arounds. TJs never came with really bad transmissions. Even the 42rle auto transmission in the 2003 to 2006 Wranglers can be upgraded by a good transmission mechanic. And of course, that tranny also needs a larger oil cooler.

2020年12月31日 · I wouldn’t be surprised if some automakers switch to offering the automatic as the standard transmission, with the manual as a credit option. Having said that, I doubt I’d ever bother owning a Dodge Challenger or a Fiat Spider with an automatic transmission. It just ain’t the same. On a Jeep Wrangler, though, I could be persuaded either way.
