2019年8月24日 · Removing linseed oil from wood doors is not a difficult process. Simply apply turpentine to the doors with a rag in a circular motion until the linseed oil starts to dissolve. Let the turpentine sit for 10 to 20 minutes. then wash them down with warm, soapy water.

2022年7月11日 · The Purpose of linseed oil is to soak into the wood and form a protective coating (when reacting with air).. That Primer will not allow the oil to penetrate into the wood hence will just sit on top of the paint layer and contaminate your painting surface. IMHO -- just paint over with a good oil based paint.

Tung oil is an option for the amateur woodworker. (Boiled) linseed oil turned out to require much more patience than I have: The bottle lists applying daily, weekly, then monthly for a year for proper curing. This answer suggests that I can indeed seal the wood with tung oil after having applied linseed oil.

Oils like like Danish Oil and Linseed or Boiled Linseed oil will penetrate into the wood and keep the water out. The down side is that it needs perpetual treatment, initially very often, and then less and less frequently.
