Situated on the East Coast of South Africa, SAPREF is the largest crude oil refinery in the country with 35% of South Africa's refining capacity. SAPREF is a joint venture between Shell Refining SA and BP Southern Africa. We process 24 000 tons crude per day and we make 10 main products in 46 different grades.

Oil Refining Oil tankers bring crude oil from countries in the Middle East, Europe and Africa. The oil is discharged by tankers at the single buoy mooring (SBM), about 2.5 kilometres off the coast near Prospecton and enters the refinery through an underground pipeline.
