Premature Atrial Contractions (PACs) - Cleveland Clinic
PACs occur when your upper chambers contract prematurely from an area different from the sinus node and briefly interrupt your heart’s normal rhythm. When the premature, or early, signal tells your heart to contract, there may not be much blood in your heart at that moment.
Premature Atrial Complexes (PACs) Causes and Treatment
2023年11月1日 · PACs are early (i.e., premature) electrical impulses that are generated within the cardiac atria, but not from the sinus node. PACs momentarily interrupt the normal sinus rhythm by inserting an extra heartbeat.
Premature Atrial Complex (PAC) • LITFL • ECG Library Diagnosis
2024年10月8日 · Clinical significance of PACs. PACs are a normal electrophysiological phenomenon not usually requiring investigation or treatment; Frequent PACs may cause palpitations and a sense of the heart “skipping a beat”
Premature Contractions ‒ PACs and PVCs - American Heart Association
2024年9月24日 · Premature beats that start in your heart’s upper chambers are premature atrial contractions, or PACs. Those that start in the lower chambers are premature ventricular contractions, or PVCs. Watch an animation of a normal heartbeat. They can happen to anyone but are more often found in older adults.
Premature atrial contraction - Wikipedia
Depending whether there are one, two, or three normal (sinus) beats between each PACs, the rhythm is called atrial bigeminy, trigeminy, or quadrigeminy. If three or more consecutive PACs occur in a row and at a frequency of 100 or more beats per …
Premature atrial contraction (premature atrial beat ... - ECG
Although atrial premature beats are harmless, they can trigger sustained supraventricular tachyarrhythmias (e.g. atrial fibrillation, AVNRT, AVRT, etc.). A premature atrial contraction occurs when an ectopic focus in the atria discharges before the next sinus impulse.
Premature Atrial Contractions Nursing Review - Registered Nurse RN
PACs can occur in patterns such as bigeminy (every other beat) or trigeminy (every third beat). The rhythm shown earlier was atrial bigeminy, where the rhythm alternates between normal sinus beats and PACs. If PACs become frequent or if abnormal patterns are noted, further investigation may be necessary to rule out underlying heart conditions.

When this occurs in a pattern of bigeminy, the interpreter may be fooled into thinking that sinus bradycardia is present, because every other beat is a nonconducted PAC, and the QRS rate is...
Premature Atrial Contractions - StatPearls - NCBI Bookshelf
2023年8月8日 · Premature atrial contractions (PACs) are contractions of the atria that are triggered by the atrial myocardium but have not originated from the sinoatrial node (SA node). PACs are also commonly referred to as atrial premature complexes (APCs), premature supraventricular complexes, premature supraventricular beat, and premature atrial beat.
Premature Atrial Complexes | New Health Advisor
2025年1月31日 · A sinus rhythm normally generates 60-100 heartbeats per minute. Premature atrial complexes or PACs consist of extra heartbeats that interrupt the sinus rhythm. They may occur anytime within a day in healthy individuals.
