Dec 2, 2024 · I use to see snowshoe hares as far South as the Manistee area in Michigan in the late 80’s or early 90’s but haven’t seen one since. The lack of snow cover is what I assume is the biggest factor. We don’t get anywhere near the snow that we used to.

On the plains, I noticed that the jackrabbit population has even crashed on our hunting properties. 3 years ago and there were bunnies hopping around everywhere.
