People seem confused by Tom Cruise being reset all the way back to the helicopter and I'm not sure why. He reset 24 hours just like he had been the entire movie. The first time he got the power was on the beach. The second time he got the power, it was before the beach assault even started, hence him getting reset back to the helicopter.

It's basically Ground Hog Day + Heinlein's Starship Troopers (book, not movie). The script is solid, and it's a great role for Tom Cruise. It would have been nice if the Starship Troopers movie had had the budget to incorporate the mech suits used in this movie, since the "jump suits" are pretty central to the book. Alas. Low budget.

2022年11月11日 · I enjoyed Tom Cruise starting the movie playing his usual smug arrogant self and ended the movie playing a believable human being who knows that he isn’t perfect. Really thought he was better than usual in Oblivion but Edge of Tomorrow he really was the best actor who could have been cast in that role.

For the sake of the plot the final reset was important for the happy ending where Tom Cruise meets Emily Blunt for the first time one last time. There was also a plan to have an Edge of Tomorrow 2 featuring another battlefield. But the film was a critical flop in theaters.

2020年8月7日 · Jack Reacher was pretty well recieved but it had a broader appeal since it was just another Tom Cruise action movie. Oblivion was really good but I could see how the it may not have scratched the sci-fi itch with the unoriginal story. This may have caused people to think Edge of Tomorrow was going to another generic Tom Cruise action sci-fi flick.
