2024年8月14日 · Yesterday I put a deer neck roast in the crockpot, well actually the day before, I took it out of the crockpot yesterday. I made beef and noodles for DH and I took the juices left in the crockpot, and added a bit of organic beef broth with some meat. Oh, my goodness it tasted so rich and good. I had what was left today for a late breakfast.

2025年1月12日 · Sunday I made an arm roast and onion. Tonight I cut up a chunk into bite sized pieces. Diced some potatoes and boiled in the juice. Added a can of carrots, gree beans, half a bag of frozen peas. Toped it with canned biscuits. Baked until the biscuits were brown. Dinner for four days. I'm enjoying having a working oven.

2024年9月8日 · I trim beef, pork and venison of excess fat. I've also canned boneless, skinless chicken thighs and trim any chunks of fat. But, with any of that, you still wind up with fat in the jars. I usually leave an extra 1/2 inch of headspace for meat.

2024年8月18日 · It amazes me that the cost per pound for a roast is less than the per pound for stew meat. If I do decide to buy some roasts, I will cut a portion of each into stew meat to can along with the regular canning. I already have a decent amount of pork, some venison and turkey, a lot of chicken canned.

2025年1月4日 · We had a honey baked ham for Christmas Eve supplied by our oldest daughter, then I sprung my annual Christmas savings for the $100 Prime Rib Roast for Christmas dinner.. two amazing meals back to back. As a side note, Prime Rib has reached an almost impossible high.. I put a little back all year for the Christmas roast.
