Dec 12, 2009 · Liquid clear, liquid white and liquid black have a long open times if I remember correctly. I am thinking weeks, but it has been a long time since I tried the stuff. The best thing to do at this point is just wait and let it dry. Then you could re-paint the areas, oil it out or try some spar varnish to even out the gloss.

Jan 2, 2017 · The pigment is down inside the tube, past the clear liquid. Very few of the other brands have separated like this. What is the liquid? Is it gum arabic or ox gall? It’s too thick to be water. If I were to remove the clear liquid without mixing it back into the pigment, it seems likely this would change the consistency of the paint.

Anyhow, I’ve used Bob Ross’s liquid clear with oil paint (using the wet on wet technique) and have had some really unique results/ effects. I would apply a thin coat to the canvas before starting the painting.

As previous comments said, I use glazing liquid for leveling properties and never found adding water to be wise as this quickly turns into pigment settling into canvas tooth. If the color isn’t applying transparent enough, it’s because I added too much paint and correct with more glazing liquid. Golden: Soft gel gloss.
