Coping Skills: Anger | Worksheet - Therapist Aid
The Coping Skills: Anger worksheet describes six techniques for managing anger. Some of these skills can help to prevent or minimize explosive anger, such as triggers and warning signs. Other skills are intended to take control of anger, such as diversions, time-outs, and deep breathing.
Managing your anger takes practice and while these coping skills are designed to help approach anger with positive behavior, it will take time. Dedicate a few hours per week to walking through each exercise and most importantly, practice them when you see anger arise.
Following an episode of anger, take a few moments to record your experience. This practice will help you identify patterns, warning signs, and triggers, while also helping you organize thoughts and work through problems. What was happening before the anger episode? Describe how you were feeling, and what. was on your mind.
