Nov 3, 2024 · A few internet reviews noted that the Ghost lacks a bit of arch support. The Ghost is a neutral shoe, so its ride feels less supportive than some of Brooks' more structured shoes. For all-day running comfort, the landing comfort and cushioning of the Ghost 16 are smooth and creamy without feeling overstuffed or overstacked.

Both La Sportiva shoes are a bit firmer than the Agility Peak, but all three options are versatile runners built for rugged terrain. The Merrell Antora 3 is another trail running shoe that rides more like a hiking boot.

Ultra-rugged shoes often struggle in this area, and while the Thundercross isn't the least sensitive trail running shoe I've tested, it's far from the most responsive. With a generous layer of EnergyFoam in the midsole paired with a Terrain Contagrip rubber outsole, much of the trail's texture is muted.
