...and so we have closed the castle gates for the 2023 season. We want to express our gratitude to all the visitors who came and visited the castle this year. It was a delight to to see so many happy faces enjoying the gardens, medieval events, jousts, and of course the castle. Did you know... Arundel Castle was founded by Roger de Montgomery on Christmas Day 1067. Roger became the first to hold the earldom of Arundel by the graces of, his cousin, William the Conqueror. He was awarded this title as thanks for keeping the peace in France whilst William was away in England.
